1. TRANSLATION SERVICES

1.1 What can you translate?

WE TRANSLATE  from practically any electronic or printed format, including the following: Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel®, Publisher®, QuarkXpress®,  Illustrator®, PageMaker®, TXT, HTML, PHP, ASP,  etc.

1.2 Can you translate my website?

Certainly, and we can work directly in the source code of your website, whether it's XML, HTML, ASP, PHP or any web format.

1.3 Do you work with companies or private individuals?

Most of our requests come from companies, but we often work with private individuals and are happy to help them with their translation needs.

1.4 Is it possible to maintain the page layout?

We guarantee the document's original layout and format. Where possible, we work on the original document by writing over the text without changing the style and format.

2. SERVICE FEES

2.1 How much does a translation cost?

The prices vary based on the length, difficulty and format of your texts. Our prices start from USD$ 0.08 per word (around USD $25 per standard page).

2.2 How can I obtain a free estimate?

For a text document (e.g. in Word® format) use our estimate tool.

For all other translations send an e-mail to quote@chambersinternational.com, attach the document, give your contact information and the languages for the translation. If you have any questions, please contact us right away.

3. DELIVERY DATES AND TURNAROUND TIME

3.1 When will the job be delivered?

Obviously, this depends on the length. To give you an example, these are our average delivery times:

  • up to 500 words - 8 hours
  • 1,000 to 2,000 words - 36 hours
  • more than 2,000 words – about 1,500 words per day.

For rush jobs you tell us when you need it!

3.2 Can you translate a 300 page manual in 7 days?

Yes. When it is not necessary to maintain a consistent style we can manage up to 10 simultaneous translators all working on the same document to reduce the delivery time.

4. PAYMENTS

4.1 How can I pay?

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • Major credit cards on secure server.
  • Wire Transfer.

4.2 When do I need to pay?

Private individuals are asked to pay within 3 days of delivery of the translated document unless otherwise specified. Corporate customers pay on corporate billing cycles. Credit applications must be submitted to our finance department.

When you receive your translation you will also receive an invoice with all the information for making the payment.

We normally request an advance payment for new customers with orders over $100.

5. GUARANTEES

5.1 What guarantees do I have regarding quality?

First of all it is important to note that CHAMBERS works exclusively with native-speaking professional translators. Translators are selected for their linguistic and industry expertise.

If you are not satisfied with a job, you can request that the text be reviewed/edited by another translator at our expense. If you are still not satisfied, we will discount up to 30% of the job.

5.2 What guarantees do I have regarding deadlines?

CHAMBERS guarantees that deadlines will be respected. If we miss a deadline by more than 24 hrs will provide a discount of 10%.

5.3 What about confidentiality?

Your confidentiality is guaranteed. Respect for the confidential nature of our work is inherent to our policies and procedures, and we are glad to enter into contractual agreements to formalise this understanding.

6. HOW DO I...?

6.1 How can I send you a document?

If it is in electronic form, use the online order procedure or send the document as an attachment to quote@chambersinternational.com.

If it is printed you can send it by fax, mail or courier. Click here for our contact information.

6.2 Can I get an estimate for a printed document?

Just send us the document by fax, specify the languages and your personal information (telephone numbers, e-mail, address, company details, etc.) and you will receive an estimate within the day.

6.3 How can I count the words in my document?

If the document is in Microsoft® Word® use the "Word Count" function in the the Word® Tools menu. Just send us this figure. Otherwise, if the document is in another format (printed, html, php, asp, etc.) you can send us the file by e-mail or fax and we will count the words for you and quickly send you an estimate.

7. SECURITY

7.1 What is a secure server?

Secure server refers to the possibility of exchanging data between two computers using an encrypted connection.
CHAMBERS uses secure servers for two different services:

  • For guaranteeing credit card transactions.
  • For exchanging confidential documents.

Both servers use 128 bit encryption, which is the maximum degree of security possible at the present time.

8. OTHERS

8.1 What is localisation?

Localisation is the process of modifying a product (software, website and relevant documentation) for an audience in a different country, culture, or region of the world. Localisation is more than translation because it involves cultural adaptation and requires knowledge of the local culture. Localisation may also require changes to the software product itself, above and beyond language translation.

8.2 What is globalisation?

Globalisation or internationalisation is the act of (re)designing a document or software product for general markets beyond the boundaries of one nation, not considering adaptation for a specific cultural/legal locale. If you are taking your product to another country, you need to consider both internationalisation and localisation.
